DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/25 July) – A fugitive from Danao in Bohol who had a pending arrest warrant for allegedly raping his own daughter was arrested in Kapalong town, Davao del Norte on Wednesday.
Members of the Kapalong and Danao Municipal Police Stations arrested the suspect in Purok 14, Barangay Maniki, Kapalong, Davao del Norte around 2pm on Wednesday.
Police withheld the suspect’s name to protect the identity of his daughter.
In a report issued on Thursday, Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 director BGen Marcelo C. Morales said the arrest was made by virtue of an arrest warrant for incestuous rape issued by Judge Marivic A. Trabajo-Daray of the 7th Regional Trial Court Branch 52 in Talibon, Bohol on February 9, 2017.
Morales said the 48-year old suspect is a laborer and resident of San Miguel, Danao, Bohol. No bail was recommended for his release.
The police official added he directed the police here to launch manhunt operations to arrest wanted persons hiding in Davao to ensure everyone’s safety and security.
He warned criminals that they chose a wrong place to hide.
“Sa mga kriminal, mali po ang napili ninyong pagtaguan, huwag dito sa Davao. Mahuhuli at mahuhuli din nami kayo, pinapanigurado ko (To all criminals, you chose a wrong place to hide, not here in Davao. We will catch all of you, I assure you that),” he said.
On May 31, authorities from Tagum and Danao arrested a suspect charged for molesting a 14-year old relative in 2018. (Antonio L. Colina IV/MindaNews)
