KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/09 September) – The local police has been placed on alert against possible terror attacks following the explosions in nearby Isulan town in Sultan Kudarat and in Indanan, Sulu over the weekend.
Lt. Col. Ramel Hojilla, chief of the Kidapawan City PNP, raised the alert on Monday and ordered his men to increase visibility in areas which could be targets of terror attacks.
Hojilla said the wants the city a “hardened” target for criminals.
A day after the blast in Isulan, several text messages that more bombings would happen in the coming months circulated.
The texts claimed the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria as behind the blast, but the police said this has yet to be verified.
The Isulan blast wounded eight people while the Sulu explosion killed a suspected suicide bomber.
Hojilla asked the public to support their campaign by reporting to them suspicious-looking persons as well as baggage and packages.
The police also intensified highway inspection, intelligence gathering, surveillance and monitoring of lawless groups. (Malu Cadeliña-Manar/MindaNews)
