COTABATO CITY (MindaNews / 03 November) – The Bangsamoro region’s Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READI) on Sunday delivered food aid, tarpaulin and hygiene kits to quake-hit areas in neighboring North Cotabato.
Firetrucks were also deployed to Kidapawan City whose water system suffered damages following a series of four above-Magnitude-6 quakes between October 16 and 31. Residents there need water for cooking, bathing and laundry.
On October 31, after the Magnitude 6.5 quake struck, the Bangsamoro READI donated 11,000 bottled purified water and emergency food packs in Tulunan, Makilala and Kidapawan hours after the people cried out on social media about their needs.
Minister Naguib Sinarimbo of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) and Executive Secretary Dong Cusain immediately convened responders and all agencies to assist North Cotabato province as advised by Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Balawag Ebrahim.
“We feel the agony of our neighbors. In times of peace and distress, we are all brothers and sisters,” Sinarimbo said. (Ferdinandh B. Cabrera / MindaNews)
