ILIGAN CITY (MindaNews/18 Nov) – A Magnitude 5.9 earthquake rocked Bukidnon at 9:22 p.m. Monday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its Earthquake Information No. 2, PHIVOLCS pegged the epicenter at 07.67°N, 124.92°E – 009 km N 01° W of Kadingilan (Bukidnon), or somewhere in the municipality of Don Carlos.
The agency’s first information for the temblor pegged the epicenter at 07.64°N, 124.90°E – 006 km N 22° W of Kadingilan (Bukidnon), or somewhere in the southern edge of the municipality of Don Carlos near its boundary with Kadingilan.
Phivolcs said it was of tectonic origin with a depth of focus of nine kilometers.
The agency was expecting damage as a result of the quake. It also expected aftershocks.
The quake was felt at Intensity V in Kadingilan, Damulog, Kalilangan, Talakag and Valencia City in Bukidnon and in the cities of Kidapawan and Marawi.
It was Intensity IV in Impasugong in Bukidnon, Cotabato City, Davao City, Koronadal City, Malungon in Sarangani and Cagayan de Oro City; Intensity III in Gingoog City, Tupi in South Cotabato and Alabel in Sarangani; and Intensity II in Kiamba in Sarangani, General Santos City and Mambajao in Camiguin.
