BONGAO, Tawi-tawi (MindaNews / 10 Dec) – After three days of tailing and working to hook the suspects with a bait, drug enforcement operatives using their confidential assets arrested three big time drug dealers here and seized P34-million worth of shabu.
Director Juvenal Azurin, chief of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM), said they conducted the buy-bust operation after confirming the items were in the hands of the suspects while negotiating with their personnel around 8:30 a.m. Monday.
A total of five kilograms of suspected shabu were seized in the possession of suspects identified as Haberson Jaafar, Elmer Jamadin and Adzfar Azali.
They were immediately brought in Zamboanga City which government operatives has filed cases in Violation of Section and Section 11 of the Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Azurin added that the suspected shabu may have been transported via Malaysia and they are digging deeper as to the groups behind the syndicate.
The operation was a joint effort involving various security forces, including the Tawi-tawi police, PDEA-Zamboanga, Marine Brigade Landing Team 9 and a special police team working on drug enforcement. (Ferdinandh Cabrera / MindaNews)
