KIDAPAWAN CITY (MindaNews/16 January) – Two persons were killed in an ambush in Pikit town, Cotabato Wednesday night, police said.
Pikit police identified the victims as Benjie Dumacon and Nashrudin Guialudin, both residents of Barangay Lumayong, Kabacan, Cotabato.
Reports said the victims were on board a motorcycle bound for Sitio Manampan in Barangay Batulawan when they were attacked by still unidentified gunmen.
Police recovered from the crime scene slugs coming from M14 and M16 armalite rifles.
Police have yet to find out the motive behind the killing.
The latest ambush in Pikit led the mayor to call for a multi-stakeholders meeting on Thursday.
Mayor Sumulong Sultan said he wanted to know how the police and other law enforcers are handling the investigation on the series of shooting incidents in his town.
Last week, Sultan also called for a meeting with the Municipal Peace and Order Council to discuss the explosion inside the compound owned by a school principal in Barangay Fort Pikit.
A 40mm projectile landed and went off inside the residence of Abdulkadir Bedtug Buda.
No one was hurt during the explosion. (Malu Cadeliña-Manar/MindaNews)
