Lanao Sur forms task force vs coronavirus

ILIGAN CITY (MindaNews / 5 Feb) – The provincial government of Lanao del Sur has formed an Inter-Agency Task Force to monitor and take concerted efforts to prevent the entry of the dreaded 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Marawi City and Lanao del Sur.

In a joint meeting held Wednesday at the provincial capitol, Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr., who chairs the IATF, urged the 39 municipal mayors to coordinate closely with their respective municipal health officers to take precautionary and preventive measures through intensified information and education campaign (IEC) on proper hygiene and health care

“I want that as much as possible, every resident must be healthy and free from any sickness. Bawal magka sakit,” said the governor.

Jennie Alonto Tamano, provincial information officer, said that on February 13, all 1,159 barangay captains in the province will gather at the capitol for a forum on the virus.

Tamano said the provincial government will provide assistance to the Provincial Health Office in conducting IEC activities down to the different barangays through their respective municipal health offices.”

Dr. Shalimar Rakiin, chief of Amai Pakpak Medical Center in Marawi, said the APMC will serve as support component to the IATF in preventing the coronavirus and will provide medical response to any person under investigation (PUI). (Richel V. Umel / MindaNews)
